China's
1st "Standard" Steam Loco:
This model - the Jiefang - became
China's first own main haul standard freight locomotive. It is a very
classical design with a no frills construction.
It was the most typical "workhorse" of its day. Very similar
designs could be found at the same time or somewhat earlier in Western
Europe.

Other:
Jiefang ended China's dependence on imported freight locomotives. The most
widely used model until the Jiefang was the Belgian made PL9
model.
Many subsequent locomotive types built in P.R.C. were modeled over the
Jiefang design. Some of these are on exhibit in this museum.
Jiefang was very popular and a great contributor to China's post-World War
II reconstruction in the 1940-1950s.
