Sleeping Car:
Right out of the times of "traveling in style" comes
this old sleeping wagon.
The very color of the car already gives you a hint of what is to come. The
nice, wood covered dressing room (left) and mirror oozes of power.
The hallway decorated with original wood kept up appearances.
Even the heating oven was kept in an unusual immaculately clean state and was
afforded silvery paint. You don't find any of the dirt that you'll
find in the standard passenger cars.
The colored, stained glass in the rear windows accentuated the richness
built into this car.
That it was meant to be the last car is obvious from looking at the beautifully
wrought iron used in the decoration of the outdoor "balcony".
One will be hard pressed to find similarly styled wagons these days, maybe
apart from the one used by American Presidents for voting campaigns.
The bottom two pictures show two sleeping cabins; the left is a for
private occupancy and the right is meant for three passengers.
Needless to say, this floor is not covered with some typical durable linoleum but instead
with soft carpets. The single cabin sleeper offers a desk and
electricity for its occupant.
The wagon was original used as an officers' car
but later only as a test car.
